All-Star Cast Announced for ‘Doctor Who’ 50th Anniversary

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the 50th anniversary of the legendary BBC series Doctor Who is this year. And with that monumental celebration close at hand, filming of the 50th anniversary started this week with an all-star cast being announced.

Fans of the long-running sci-fi series will be delighted to know that actor David Tennant, who played the Doctor from 2005 to 2010, and actress Billie Piper who played companion Rose Tyler in 2005 and 2006 (and briefly during 2008) will join current Doctor and companion, Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman in the big anniversary episode.

Also revealed is that actor John Hurt (‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Tinker Tailor Solider Spy’) will be appearing in the 50th anniversary. However, there are no details on what role Hurt will be playing let alone how Tennant and Piper will be featured in the special airing.

In the meantime, fans can anticipate the next new episode of the current, seventh season of ‘Doctor Who’ to air on BBC America this Saturday, April 6 at 9/8c.
