‘The Big C’ Season 4: See The Cast Look Back At The “Four Stages Of Cathy”

The Big C: Hereafter (Showtime)

With the fourth and final season of The Big C set to commence on April 29th, Showtime has released a retrospective video examining the “four stages of Cathy.” The cancer dramedy has used each of its seasons to roughly coincide with a stage of grief: denial, anger, bargaining and, coming up in season four, acceptance. If that sounds like we’re heading for a tearjerker of an ending, that’s most likely because we are. As series star Laura Linney says in the video, “The show will hit you in one of two ways: it will be helpful, or it will just be too painful.”

As they look back on the series and hint at what’s still to come, the cast becomes emotional as they discuss the journey Cathy and her family have been on. “This is a beautiful, clueless family that starts to get a really big clue about how precious, limited time is,” says John Benjamin Hickey, who stars as Cathy’s older brother Sean. Watch the video below to hear the rest of the cast’s thoughts on the series coming to an end.

Season four is subtitled “hereafter” and is being billed as a limited series since it will consist of four one-hour long episodes, instead of the series’ normal half hour installments.

The Big C‘s fourth season premieres Monday, April 29th at 10PM on Showtime.
