‘Dexter’ To End After Season 8?

Dexter Season 7 Episode 11 Do You See What I See

CBS CEO Les Moonves has confirmed that season 8 of Showtime’s Dexter will be its last, according to Deadline. Moonves inadvertently confirmed the long awaited news at the dbAccess Media, Internet & Telecom Conference in Florida while speaking about the network’s future and ignoring the implication that ‘Dexter’ is over.

“Ray Donovan is coming on with Liev Schreiber which comes on with Dexter‘s last season starting in June. And then we have Masters of Sex, a story of Masters and Johnson, which is a very exciting show. A show that you wouldn’t see on CBS but it works on Showtime. And that comes behind Homeland in September. And just announced, we’re doing a series about the Vatican, which I think is rather timely, which Ridley Scott is directing for us. So we’re very excited about that.”

While many have dodged the big question of Dexter’s fate the network has yet to officially announce what’s to come for the serial killer and has yet to make a comment over Moonves’ statements. Season 8 is due to launch earlier than usual this year on June 30, 2013 in light of the series premiere of ‘Ray Donovan’.
