‘Zero Hour’ Canceled by ABC

Another one bites the dust!

Yep, ABC has canceled yet another Thursday night drama from its current TV line-up. This time around it is the new high-concept series Zero Hour that is the latest victim of low ratings.

‘Zero Hour’ starred ER alum Anthony Edwards as Hank Galliston, the publisher of a paranormal enthusiast magazine called Modern Skeptic who spent his career following clues, debunking myths and solving conspiracies. But when his beautiful wife, Laila (Jacinda Barrett from ‘Suits’), is abducted from her antique clock shop, Hank gets pulled into one of the most compelling mysteries in human history, stretching around the world and back centuries. The cast included Michael Nyqvist (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Addison Timlin (‘Californication’), Scott Michael Foster (‘Greek’) and Carmen Ejogo (‘Alex Cross’) as well as recurring roles for Charles S. Dutton and Amy Irving.

The series debuted on ABC on February 14, but had very poor ratings in terms of not only the overall viewership but also in the much-coveted age demo of adults 18 to 49. This is, of course, not the first time ABC has aired a show in the 8 PM time slot on Thursday nights to less than stellar results. The recently dismantled ‘Last Resort’ experienced the same fate, as did shows like ‘Missing’, ‘FlashForward’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels’. The only show in recent history that has succeeded in that time period is ‘Ugly Betty’.

For the next two weeks, ABC plans to air encore episodes of their reality series ‘Shark Tank’ and then ‘Wife Swap’ will take over for seven weeks before yet another reality series – ‘Wipeout’ – moves into the timeslot.
