‘The Following’ Season 2 Announced

The Fox Network has given a second season order to the new crime drama The Following that stars Kevin Bacon (Footloose). Kevin Reilly, the chairman of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, made the official announcement.

“From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding,” Reilly said. “Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season.”

The pick-up comes after the debut of just six episodes of the series that follows Kevin Bacon as Ryan Hardy, Shawn Ashmore (Smallville) as Mike Weston and James Purefoy (John Carter) in the role of Joe Carroll. ‘The Following’ comes from creator Kevin Williamson of ‘Scream 2’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ fame. The series is currently holding on to the no. 2 spot for top broadcast drama on Fox.

The Bonanza production from both Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television will continue on Fox with nine all-new episodes. ‘The Following’ airs on Mondays in the 9:00 PM ET/PT timeslot.
