Netflix To Produce Only One Season Of ‘Arrested Development’

Arrested Development cast

Netflix is only interested in hosting one season of the quirky comedy Arrested Development, Entertainment Weekly has shared. The streaming service made their plans clear recently when discussing the possibility of additional seasons of the Mitchell Hurwitz comedy series that stars Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses), David Cross (Megamind) and Will Arnett (Up All Night).

“It’s really a fantastic one-off which is coming together incredibly, and I think it will be amazing for us, but think of it as a non-repeatable amazing,” he said, adding that “Arrested Development is a wildly successful tactic, as opposed to fundamental to the strategy,” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said.

Netflix is said to be focused on the rest of their slate that includes ‘House of Cards’, ‘Derek’, and ‘Hemlock Grove’. For now fans will have to cross their fingers in the hopes that another network will pick up the revived series. There is also the upcoming film that is currently in the pre-production phase with the new Netflix episodes serving as a prequel.

The series is set to make its comeback sometime in May in a new format with guest stars Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Ben Stiller (Zoolander), talk show host Conan O’Brien, singer Liza Minnelli, Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) and more.
