‘The Walking Dead’ Alum Lauren Cohan to Guest on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’

Actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene on the AMC zombie-fest ‘The Walking Dead’ will be showing up in a guest-starring role on the long-running NBC drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in an episode set for next month.

The episode, entitled “Legitimate Rape” will focus on Avery Jordan (Cohen), a “popular sports reporter who accuses her cameraman of raping her”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “when she learns she is pregnant from the encounter, she opts to keep the baby”. This episode stems from the controversy caused during the 2012 election when Senate nominee Todd Akin said that pregnancy rarely occurs as a result of what he called “legitimate rape”. Coincidence or not, this isn’t the first time Cohan will portray a character who has been violated, as Maggie on ‘The Walking Dead’ was sexually abused earlier this season.

Among Cohan’s other TV credits are recurring roles on ‘Supernatural’, ‘Chuck’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ as well as guest roles on ‘Life’, ‘Modern Family’, ‘CSI: NY’ and ‘Cold Case’. She also roles in the box office films ‘Casanova’ and ‘Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj’ as well as the direct-to-video flick ‘Death Race 2’.

A new episode of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, now in its 14th season on NBC, will air tonight, Wednesday, February 20 at 9/8c.
