HBO Developing ‘Bored To Death’ Feature Film

HBO is currently developing a feature film for Bored to Death, the TV series that previously ran on the network from 2009-2011, starring Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy drama’s shift into a movie will also include returning actors Ted Danson (Cheers) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), who are also interested in reprising their roles.

As fans will recall, ‘Bored to Death’ followed Schwartzman as the central character Jonathan Ames, a Brooklyn-based writer and amateur private eye who gets involved in some quirky and strange scenarios.

Per HBO, the trio will return to once again in a new storyline. “Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure,” the Bored to Death’s logline states.

The film is slated to be written by Jonathan Ames (The Extra Man), the series creator, who is also set to executive produce with Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis. A release date for the feature film has yet to be announced.
