Worlds Collide in New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Teaser

Forget winter, Westeros is coming.

HBO’s latest Game of Thrones promo doesn’t give us so much as a glimpse of season three, but its promise that “their world” will “return to ours” is goosebump-inducing enough that it hardly matters.

The teaser features the three-eyed crow from Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) dreams flying over our modern cityscapes while The National’s “Rains of Castamere” (from season two’s “Blackwater”) sets a somber mood in the background. Even in a straightforward teaser like this one, it is impossible not to look for clues. For instance, is the three-eyed crow nothing more than an appropriately creepy image to usher us back into the strange world of Westeros? Or could the crow be a harbinger of things to come in season three? As we know, in Game of Thrones “dark wings” always bring “dark words.”

Season three of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, March 31st at 9PM on HBO.
