Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 Season 2 Review “Monday June…”

Can someone please tell me why everywhere I looked yesterday, ABC (and other sources) stated that “Monday June…” was going to be the next episode of Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23, but it ended up being a castoff of the first season titled “Mean Girls”? The way ABC is airing these episodes is not only driving me absolutely crazy, but it makes it really hard to review a show that should NOT be difficult to talk about!

I get frustrated at the nonsensical things that the writers have Chloe and June doing in episodes that should have aired in the first season, and probably would have made a lot of sense! But since they’re now being shoved into the second season and forced to sink or swim, they’re tending to sink to the bottom and fast.

“Mean Girls” was a throw back to first season, and while funny, it did provide a great basis to see how far all of the characters in Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 have actually come. Chloe no longer has a drink in her hand every time they show her. While she may appear to be always highly intoxicated in this most recent season, lack of alcohol leads viewers to believe that Chloe is just naturally insane – and make all of her antics that much funnier.

June has lost some of her wide eyed, goody-goody views which is fantastic. I realized I couldn’t stomach her “I’m a Midwest girl new to the big city” shtick that she was playing into until I had the chance to compare season 2 June to season 1 June with these out of order episodes.

I also really enjoy the development of James – he’s not longer just the washed up teen start brooding in his apartment. He’s actually got some substance to him, and seems like less of a caricature of himself.

Okay, so “Mean Girls” didn’t do a lot for the plot development or story of Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23. How could it when it was shot last season? But it did lead me to do a character study of how Chloe, June, and James have all progressed and how great the writers have become in this sophomore season.

Now, if ABC would just allow them to run the episodes in order, that would be fantastic.
