Showtime Shares First Look at New Series ‘Masters of Sex’ and ‘Ray Donovan’

Sex and violence abound in the trailer for Showtime’s upcoming Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan. The new shows will join Showtime’s award-winning slate of comedies and dramas in 2013, and it doesn’t look like they’ll have any trouble fitting in with the likes of Homeland and Shameless.

Adapted from Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, Masters of Sex is a one-hour drama starring Michael Sheen (Midnight in Paris) and Lizzy Caplan (Party Down) as Masters and Johnson, the duo whose research into human sexuality sparked the sexual revolution. In addition to Caplan and Sheen, the cast includes Caitlin Fitzgerald (It’s Complicated), Nicholas D’Agosto (Heroes), Teddy Sears (American Horror Story), Margo Martindale (Justified) and Beau Bridges (The Descendants).

Meanwhile, Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as a Hollywood fixer, who can solve everyone’s problems except for his own. His already dangerous life becomes even more complicated when his father (Jon Voight) is released from prison “setting off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core.” Elliott Gould (Ocean’s 11), Paula Malcomson (The Hunger Games), Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes) and Dash Mihok (I Am Legend) round out the rest of the cast.
