Nickelodeon Picks Up iCarly Spin-Off ‘Sam & Cat’

The ‘iCarly’ spin-off Sam & Cat is moving forward now that Nickelodeon has given the production the greenlight. The network has picked up 20 episodes of the upcoming series that will star actress Jennette McCurdy, iCarly’s Sam Puckett, and Ariana Grande, who is well known for her role as Cat Valentine in the series ‘Victorious’. Together the two opposites will play roommates and business partners who operate their own after school babysitting business that should bring plenty of adventures.

Russell Hicks, the President of Content Development and Production at Nickelodeon, made the official announcement over the pick-up of ‘iCarly’ creator Dan Schneider’s new series. “Jennette and Ariana are adored by our audience, and it’s great to unite these talented actresses in this hilarious new comedy from Dan Schneider. This show promises to deliver on what our audience loves most about these two favorite characters — laugh-out-loud humor and non-stop adventure, and is sure to be a compelling new chapter for our new comedic duo.”

‘Sam & Cat’ is slated to kick off production this coming New Year in January and will arrive on air sometime in 2013. This latest development comes just days after the cast and crew of ‘iCarly’ bid farewell to fans after a six season run on the kid’s network. Maybe we will see a reunion in the future?
