‘Emily Owens, M.D. Cancelled By The CW

The first casualty of the fall TV season for The CW has been announced. The victim? Well, since there were only three new shows introduced on the network this fall it’s not hard to figure that one out, right? The new medical drama Emily Owens, M.D. is the answer. Both new shows ‘Arrow’ and ‘Beauty And the Beast’ have been picked up by The CW for the rest of this season.

Fans of the Mamie Gummer-led series should know, though, that while the show has been cancelled, the network will allow the remaining episodes in the show’s 13 episode order to air, but once those have broadcast that is it.

‘Emily Owens, M.D.’ focused on the life of young doctor Emily Owens (Gummer), who realizes working as an intern in a big hospital is not much different than being in high school, which was a less than pleasant experience for her. The cast included Justin Hartley (‘Smallville’), newcomer Aja Naomi King, Michael Rady (‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’), Necar Zadegan (’24’) and Kelly McCreary (‘White Collar’). The series has had a rough time in the ratings nearly since its debut on October 16, averaging only 1.3 million viewers over its short run.

The next episode of ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’ should air on The CW on Tuesday, December 4 at 9/8c. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
