‘Necessary Roughness’ Season 3 Announced

While the USA Network has yet to make an official announcement, it certainly seem like Necessary Roughness will be back for a third season if a report at Deadline is any indication.

The deal to bring back the Callie Thorne-led series for a third season is in the final stages with plans to have a 10-episode run, which is down from the 12 episodes the series received for its debut season and the 16 episodes for the show’s current second season.

‘Necessary Roughness’ focuses on Dr. Dani Santino (Thorne), who in the debut season was struggling to keep her practice while raising her two teenagers and keeping her personal life on track after a nasty divorce. By a stroke of luck, she ends up as the sports-psychologist for the New York Hawks football team, which leads to her gaining more and more clients, but even more drama in her home life. The cast includes Marc Blucas (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’), Scott Cohen (‘Gilmore Girls’), Mehcad Brooks (‘True Blood’), Patrick Johnson (‘Mean Girls 2’) and Hannah Marks (‘Weeds’).

The current season of ‘Necessary Roughness’ will be back for its final five episodes on the USA Network starting on January 23 at 10/9c.
