NCIS: Los Angeles Season 4 Review “Skin Deep” – Callen’s Connection, Plus Deeks and Kensi in Wetsuits

NCIS Los Angeles Season 4 Episode 7 Photos

In this episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, the team tracks down a new piece of tech that could spell danger if it gets into the wrong hands, and Callen finds a connection to someone part of the case.

Though it might be close to Thanksgiving here in the U.S., NCISLA didn’t choose to do a show based around the holiday. What they did do though, was give us an episode that had some of the elements that make the holiday special, such as family, hope, and of course Deeks and Kensi in wet suits.

It was played pretty subtly, but I very much enjoyed the part of the storyline that included Callen and Lance. Once we saw the look on Callen’s face as they discovered Lance’s history in the foster system, I knew that somehow G. would have to use that knowledge to help them talk to the guy. My heart broke for both of them as Callen and Lance reminisced over the life of a foster kid, especially when they agreed that it was the good homes that were the hardest to live in – knowing that it was only a matter of time until you would have to leave.

Luckily Callen has a family now and I know that he realized that in the end. Callen, plus his tough but big teddy-bear-at-heart partner Sam, cool but incredibly kind Kensi, sometimes silly but always trustworthy Deeks, plus Hetty, Nell and Eric – these people all make up a sometimes crazy, but always loyal group of friends that are now a family, and if that doesn’t say Thanksgiving, I don’t know what does.

Plus, we can’t forget the fact that this episode gave us Deeks, and even Kensi in a wetsuit. I was hoping that Callen would don his again, but I guess we’ll all just have to be happy we saw that in this season’s premiere.

All in all, another great episode.

My favorite bits…

“Think positive. Maybe he has something that will blow you away.”
“You said Deeks was picking, right?”

Deeks showing up with PB&J sandwiches for the team.

Sam, Callen and Kensi running off to fight over the last two pieces of pizza.

Eric whistling…..with one of those pieces of pizza in his hand.

“So somebody wanted him extra dead.”

Hetty referring to Eric and Nell as the “dynamic duo.”

Call me weird, but I’m kind of with Deeks on the liver thing. Not as much as him obviously, but I’ve had some that I’ve liked.

Aw, the ME girl (totally blanking on her name) asking how Nate was doing.

“Maybe they’ll program the robots to pick a decent food truck.”

“Not at all. Just a little bit creepy.”
“Good. Then that doesn’t change anything between us.”

“No robot’s ever gonna replace you, Kens.”

Callen calling golf a metaphor for life.

“Never took you for a golfer, G.”
“Never played a day in my life. Too scary.”

Sam and Callen looking for a grey Prius in a parking lot full of Priuses.

“So here’s an amazing coincidence…..not.”

Kensi’s reaction to Hetty asking Deeks to break out his Sex Wax.

Deeks correcting Kensi’s surfer hand gesture.

The use of “Secret Agent Man” for the surfing scenes with Deeks. Nice!

Deeks. In a wetsuit. That is all.

“She likes me. Just wait for it.”

Deeks running into a guy he arrested a few years back, while undercover. Oops.

Deeks finding a unique way to give Kensi an excuse to leave his side. That was one heck of a slap he gave her bum.

“Going…going…”
“Gone.”
“Bugger.”

Deeks and the rest of the surfers getting into a massive bar brawl.

“I thought that the best way to piss off your parents was to moo evey time they said your name.” – Haha! Nell so totally did that.

“I hope you choke on your liver.”

“You look just like that guy from Scooby Doo, man.” – Literal LOL at that one. Pretty sure I scared the daylights out of my roommates, I laughed so hard.

Deeks admitting that he enjoyed putting his hand on Kensi’s butt…..a little.

Deeks clotheslining Lance as he tried to run away. Whoa.

“Bad Karma, Shaggy.”

The whole conversation between Callen and Lance.

Enjoying Deeks and Kensi surfing, but really wishing that Callen would join them.

Deeks’ “yeehaw!” as he dove into the wave.

“Where’s the shrimp curry?”
“Said he sold the last one to the bad surfer who looked like the dude from Scooby Doo.”
