90210 Season 5 Review “The Con” – Geek Chic

What better place for several plot threads to come to a head than at a comic-book convention? In this week’s episode of 90210, “The Con,” Max, Naomi, Annie and Alex headed to a thinly-veiled Comic-Con to debut Max’s new gaming software, while Liam and Silver went to the same con to promote Corporate Invaders 2. Weird how they all ended up there!

At least the writers didn’t try to get Adrianna and Dixon there, too. After repeatedly cheating on Dixon, Adrianna’s club promoter finally told her he wouldn’t sleep with her anymore unless she broke up with her boyfriend, a fair request. But just when Adrianna worked up the nerve, Dixon’s got himself back in the hospital by allowing an abscess to fester on his spine while he tried to walk off the pain, and Adrianna found herself in the same predicament as before.

Now, getting back to the con. In order to salvage Max’s company after Annie’s hacker got into their mainframe, Max pulled an all-nighter with his techies to get the software ready to preview. Unfortunately, Annie invited the hacker, Collin, who grabbed the last piece of the computer puzzle and managed to debut the software under his company before Max. Facing ruin, Alex blamed Naomi and the ended up in an awesome sword fight. In the end, Naomi had to put down an ultimatum; she had no choice but to tell Max that he had to choose between his wife and his best friend. And even though he picked her, it was obvious that this would be another toll on their marriage.

Liam’s con event got totally ruined by Navid’s jealousy. In order to convince Silver that Liam was a bad guy, Navid got the sex tape of Liam and his professor to be played at the con. Of course, Silver and Liam didn’t want to get back together, so his efforts only lost him his two good friends. Liam even bought him out from the club and ordered him off his property, understandably pissed that Navid cost him a relationship with his professor. She had just started to come around; she even dressed up as Catwoman for him. Now maybe he and Silver will get back together. Who knows at this point?

Right now, the only person getting any is Annie. After discovering the truth about Collin, Annie immediately fell into the lap of Roller Boy, who might be kind of jerky, but at least wasn’t using her to commit corporate espionage. That’s the start of every great relationship. I wonder how he’ll take the news of her days as a hooker.
