‘Wilfred’ Season 3 Announced

FX has signed up for more of the quirky adventures of the maniac Ryan (Elijah Wood) and his abrasive but loveable pal Wilfred. Announced by the FX’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Nick Grad, the network has renewed the series, picking up season 3. Grad also shared that there will be a few changes as both Reed Agnew and Eli Jorné (writer and producers of the show) will now be on board as showrunners and executive producers of the dark comedy series. Former showrunner David Zuckerman will be sticking around as an executive producer.

Here’s what Grad had to say about ‘Wilfred’ season 3. “As John (Landgraf) said at the summer TCA, it was only a matter of time before we picked up the show, we just had to work some things out,” Grad shared. “David Zuckerman has done an amazing job adapting and reconceiving ‘Wilfred’ for FX. It was his decision to step down from the showrunner’s post, but we’re very happy he is going to stay involved with the show. Both we and David have great faith in the ability of Reed and Eli to seamlessly step up and take over the reins. I have no doubt they’ll do a great job.”

The renewal comes after season 2 of ‘Wilfred’ managed to attract an average of 2.63 million total viewers. Production on season three of the hilarious series from creators Jason Gann and Adam Zwar will begin next spring with the show’s junior year set to debut in June of 2013.
