First Look: National Geographic Channel Original Film ‘Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden’ [Video]

The National Geographic Channel has released photos and a trailer in preparation for their upcoming original film, Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden. Distributed by The Weinstein Company and directed by John Stockwell (Into the Blue), the film is the cable channel’s “first original broadcast of a feature film inspired by real-life events.” A team of experts examined the details of Seal Team Six to ensure the film will be an accurate depiction of the events surrounding the end of the longest manhunt in U.S. history, but some character-based details were dramatized for effect.

“This amazing film is destined to have a major impact on our viewers, who will see our channel’s scope widen as we host the world premiere of our first scripted project,” stated NGC President Howard T. Owens, in a press release. “Harvey Weinstein, our partner and the film world’s most creative and successful visionary, understands audiences like no one else, and this joint effort will provide viewers with the first detailed, character-driven record of the War on Terror’s most crucial event, and our era’s defining moment.”

The film stars Robert Knepper (Prison Break), William Fichtner (Prison Break), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Xzibit (Derailed), Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie), Kenneth Miller (The Lying Game), and Kathleen Robertson (Boss).
