Homeland Season 3 Announced

In one of the least surprising announcements ever made, Showtime has renewed smash hit, and Emmy winner Homeland for a third season.

Fresh off the season’s highest rated (and most compelling) episode to date, Showtime has placed another twelve episode order of the explosive drama with production set to begin in the spring of next year. The channel’s President of Entertainment, David Nevins, seemed to be having a tough time hiding his utter glee when making the announcement: “The Emmy wins for Homeland have certainly set the stage for a great second season,” said Nevins. “The writers, cast and crew of Homeland continue to create a remarkably entertaining and suspenseful roller coaster ride, growing audiences week after week. We can’t wait for our viewers to experience what unfolds through the rest of season two. Our partners at Fox 21 have been tremendous, and we are thrilled to begin the planning for Homeland‘s third season.”

The announcement of the third season could not have come at a more fortuitous time. The latest episode of Homeland completely reset the series (in a good way) and nearly caused a Twitter meltdown from TV critics to celebrities and everyone in between.

If you had any worry about Homeland‘s viability as a series, you can put those fears to rest now. Your fall Sunday nights are set for another year.

Homeland airs Sundays at 10 PM on Showtime.
