‘Animal Practice’ Cancelled

Animal Practice Episode 5 Who's Afraid of Virginia Coleman (4)

The NBC Network has put the brakes on Animal Practice, EW has revealed. The freshman series that chronicled a veterinarian, who loves animals and hates pet owners, has been cancelled after dropping in the ratings with only 3.8 million viewers tuning into its latest episode. NBC has since announced that an all new season of ‘Whitney’ is set to take the comedy’s place in the line-up next month.

‘Animal Practice’ starred Justin Kirk (Weeds) as its beloved pet enthusiast along with actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Reba), Kym Whitley (I Love You, Man), Betsy Sodaro (This Show Will Get You High), Tyler Labine (Reaper), and Bobby Lee (Pineapple Express). The series comes from creators Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, who are both known for their work on the R-rated comedy movie ‘The Sitter’ that stars actor Jonah Hill.

The soon to be cancelled show will air three additional episodes before NBC officially pulls the plug. ‘Animal Practice’ is the second series to receive the axe by the network this fall with ‘Made in Jersey’ the first drama to be yanked.
