ABC Increases Episode Order for Four of Its Top Shows

Castle Season 5 Cast

Fans of the dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Castle as well as the comedies Modern Family and The Middle should be happy with the recent news from The Futon Critic that each series has been given an increase in episodes for the current TV season.

First there are the dramas: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will have 24 episodes this season while ‘Castle will have 23 episodes. As for the comedies, ‘Modern Family’ and ‘The Middle’ will both now have 24 episodes each. This will actually bring all four shows up to match their episode orders from last season.

For those who need a refresher, ‘Modern Family’ tells the story of three very different, but related, families facing the trials and tribulations of family life in their own unique (often times silly) ways. Whereas, ‘The Middle’ focuses on the Heck family from Orson, Indiana, a semi-dysfunctional family who attempts to survive their rather “generic” lives in small town USA.

The long-running medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ centers on the personal and professional lives of surgical interns and their supervisors while ‘Castle’ focuses on successful mystery novelist Richard “Rick” Castle and NYPD Detective Kate Beckett who (at first) reluctantly are partnered together as an investigative team for his research purposes for a new series of books.

Both ‘The Middle’ and ‘Modern Family’ air on Wednesday nights at 8/7c and 9/8c respectively while Castle airs on Monday nights at 10/9c and Grey’s Anatomy holds the Thursday night at 9/8c timeslot.
