2013 Season Premiere Dates Set for HBO Comedies ‘Girls’ and Enlightened’ October 19, 2012 Enlightened, Girls, News The HBO comedies Girls and Enlightened will both be returning for their second seasons on Sunday January 13, 2013 with ten all-new episodes each. ‘Girls’, created by and starring Lena Dunham, takes a comic book at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20’s will return at 9/8c. Whereas, ‘Enlightened’, which stars Laura Dern, focuses on an ambitious executive at a global conglomerate who returns to her fractured life after a humiliating public breakdown; but despite being determined to lead a more enlightened existence her newfound noble intentions only ratchet up the drama, wrecking unexpected havoc on those around her. It will return at 9:30/8:30c. ‘Girls’ is executive produced by Dunham, Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner and received five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham) and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham), winning the Emmy® for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series. Meanwhile ‘Enlightened’ is executive produced by Dern and Mike White, who also co-stars, writes and directs the series. Dern received a 2012 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Again, both shows will return to HBO for their second seasons on January 13, 2013 with ‘Girls’ at 9/8c and ‘Enlightened’ at 9:30/8:30c. Mark your calendars!
