Syfy Releases First Trailer for New Multi-Platform Series ‘Defiance’

Defiance (Syfy)

Syfy’s ambitious new multi-platform series, Defiance now has a trailer. Set in an America that has been drastically changed after an alien invasion, Defiance follows Nolan (Grant Bowler), a “mysterious” traveler who settles in a border town “where aliens and humans fight against the fragility of peace.” The series comes from sci-fi veterans Rockne O’Bannon (Farscape), Michael Taylor (Battlestar Galactica) and Kevin Murphy (Caprica).

Viewers will be able to further delve into the world of Defiance by not only watching the series, but playing along in the MMO game from Trion Worlds as well. The game and the series will work together to create a truly immersive experience for the fans. For more information on both the series and the game visit the official site.

The trailer sets up the series nicely. It reveals Defiance takes place nine years after the initial invasion and shows off an impressively ravaged looking St. Louis. There are definite shades of Battestar Galactica in the resistance movement, so if you’ve been longing for another dense space opera, Defiance might just be the show for you. Check it out below and let us know if you’ll be tuning in!

In addition to Bowler, the series also stars Julia Benz (Dexter), Jaime Murray (Warehouse 13), Tony Curran (The League of Extraordinary Gentleman), Graham Greene (Northern Exposure), Mia Kirshner (24) and Stephanie Leonidas (Mirrormask).

Defiance will premiere April 2013 on Syfy.
