‘Psych’ to be Back for 7th Season on USA Network

It’s been a long time in coming, but the USA Network has finally announced when the long-running fan favorite series Psych will be back for its anticipated 7th season. The big date is Wednesday, February 27!

This new season will consist of 16 all-new one-hour episodes, including the show’s 100th episode and the much-buzzed-about two-hour musical. Fans can also expect episodes from this new season to explore Gus’s (Dule Hill) personal life and the wedding of one of the main characters [notice that said “one” of the main characters not “two” so it’s a safe guess that Shawn and Juliet won’t be headed to wedded bliss – at least not yet anyway]. Among the guests this upcoming season will include Parminder Nagra (‘ER’ and ‘Alcatraz’), Garcelle Beauvais (‘Franklin & Bash’) and Jeffrey Tambor (‘Arrested Development’) as well as the return of Cybill Shepherd (as Shawn’s mom) and Kristy Swanson (as Detective Lassiter’s – Timothy Omundson – incarcerated girlfriend).

Fans should be prepared for a mini reunion of cast members from the 1985 movie ‘Clue’ – including original cast members Christopher Lloyd, Lesley Ann Warren and Martin Mull – during ‘Psych’s’ 100th episode and the long-awaited musical episode – aptly titled “PSYCH: The Musical” – will feature original songs written by series creator Steve Franks, performed by the entire cast. The musical episode will include guest stars Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons and Anthony Rapp.

As a refresher, ‘Psych’ stars James Roday as police consultant Shawn Spencer who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute the precinct detectives think he’s psychic. The aforementioned Hill stars as Shawn’s best friend and reluctant sidekick Gus along with Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s disapproving dad, the aforementioned Omundson, Maggie Lawson as Detective Juliet O’Hara and Kirsten Nelson as Chief Vick.

Again, the 7th season of ‘Psych’ will return to the USA Network on February 27 at 10/9c.
