Actor Morris Chestnut to Recur on ‘Nurse Jackie’

Coming off a recurring role on the FX thriller series ‘American Horror Story’, actor Morris Chestnut will next be seen in a season-long arc on the Showtime comedy Nurse Jackie.

According to Deadline, Chestnut will play Ike Prentiss, a new trauma doctor, who is a former Army medic who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is said his character “is very good at his job, but can learn a lot from Jackie (series star Edie Falco) about bedside care”.

As a refresher, ‘Nurse Jackie’ tells the story of Jackie Peyton, a dedicated but drug-addicted nurse who struggles to find a balance between the demands of her frenetic job at a New York City hospital and an array of personal dramas. The cast includes Peter Facinelli (‘The Twilight Saga’ franchise) and Anna Deavere Smith (‘The West Wing’) and Merritt Weaver [among others].

Among Chestnut’s TV credits are the short-lived ABC reboot of ‘V’ and several episodes of ‘ER’. His film roles include the recent ‘Think Like a Man’ as well as ‘Ladder 49’, ‘Two Can Play That Game’, ‘The Game Plan’, ‘Like Mike’, ‘G.I. Jane’ and ‘Boyz n the Hood’.

The fifth season of ‘Nurse Jackie’ has yet to be given a return date by Showtime.
