‘Major Crimes’ Gets Second Season Renewal

TNT announced today that their new cable drama Major Crimes – which is a spin-off of the network’s top police drama ‘The Closer’ – has been given a 15-episode second season renewal.

Michael Wright, President and Head of Programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies shared that, “with ‘Major Crimes’, James Duff and his amazing production team have crafted an incredibly entertaining show that not only honors the spirit of ‘The Closer’, but also stands alone with its own voice and spirit…week after week, ‘Major Crimes’ has drawn millions of fans with its combination of sharp writing and engaging characters brought to life by what can only be described as one of the best acting ensembles on television. We look forward to another season of this remarkable new drama”.

‘Major Crimes’ takes the detectives from ‘The Closer’ into new territory with Captain Sharon Raydor (Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell) in the lead. The cast includes G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz and Phillip P. Keene as well as new cast members Kearran Giovanni and Graham Patrick Martin along with guest stars Robert Gossett, Jon Tenney and Jonathan Del Arco.

Since its debut on August 13, ‘Major Crimes’ has had an average of nearly 7 million viewers, holding the position as one of basic cable’s top 3 new dramas. The series is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company, in association with Warner Bros. Television with James Duff, Greer Shephard, Michael M. Robin, and Rick Wallace serving as executive producers.

The next new episode of the debut season of ‘Major Crimes’ is set to air Monday, October 1 on TNT at 9/8c with the season finale slated for mid-October. The second season is expected to air next summer.
