‘Revenge’ Season 2: What Happens in the Hamptons, Stays in the Hamptons?

'Revenge' Season 2

The second season of Revenge will be back on a new night and time – Sundays, starting on September 30 at 9 PM – but the level of revenge for which Emily Thorne aka Amanda Clarke (Emily vanCamp) is assuredly going to lay on the people of The Hamptons – former fiancé Daniel (Josh Bowman) not withstanding – is going to be eye-opening for sure.

But first let’s take a look at what happened over the course of the first season, shall we? Well, one way you can do that is by checking out the one-hour special “Revenge: The First Chapter” which will air tonight (September 26) on ABC at 10/9c. This recap will not only provide newcomers to the series with a chance to find out what all the buzz was about last year but also for the avid fans it will allow all of you a chance to relive the great, thrilling, captivating and unbelievable moments from the show’s debut season.

For those of you who just cannot wait for the “where we left off” details until tonight, here are just some of the big moments for the first season of ‘Revenge’:

First of all, the Grayson family has not had a good year thanks to Emily (nee Amanda) [unbeknownst to them, of course]. Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) and Conrad (Henry Czerny) not only split up during the debut season but were also held captive by Daniel’s crazed “friend” Tyler Barrol (Ashton Holmes). They also had to endure a less-than-desirable boyfriend for daughter Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) in the form of Declan Porter (Connor Paolo) as well as her teenaged antics that actually ended with Charlotte seemingly over-dosing on pills after the news broke that her mother died in a plane crash.

The Grayson’s long-standing relationship was not the only one to come to an end during the debut season of Revenge with Daniel ending his engagement to Emily after learning that she kissed Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler) [who is really her childhood love]; and then there is, of course, the budding romance between Emily (nee Amanda) and Jack that is ground to halt before it even gets started due to the return of Fauxmanda (Margarita Levieva), who revealed that she is pregnant, claiming that Jack is the father.

And, the biggest reveal of the season finale was that despite being told otherwise for most of her life, Emily (nee Amanda) learns that her mother is actually very much alive, Victoria knew that truth quite some time ago and the Americon Initiative – the people behind David Clarke’s (James Tupper) death – could be the orchestrators of her mother’s disappearance.

But not to be outdone by what happened on ‘Revenge’; let’s focus on what fans can expect as the new season gets ready to roll out this coming weekend. It is being reported that this season premiere will start off, much like the debut episode, with “a big event gone awry in a flashforward to a wedding”. Word has it that the big event could be tied to Jack’s boat – aptly named “The Amanda” – and “someone being tied to it”.

In what could have been an incredible twist (if the following were not true), Victoria [SPOILER ALERT] will actually survive the plane crash that presumably took the lives of everyone on that fateful airplane crash from the season finale. But, the news isn’t as good for Conrad’s lover Lydia Davis (Amber Valletta) who reportedly did not make it. And, Amanda’s mother will be coming to the Hamptons in the form of actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, but it’s not going to be an easy reunion whatsoever when you have Fauxmanda and Emily both in town; nor the fact that Mama Clarke (otherwise known as Kara Wallace Clarke) is not completely right in the head – i.e., she’s a bit crazy.

Love will still be on tap for the residents of the Hamptons, though, but the couplings may not be fan approved. Let’s start with one of Emily’s former flames – to be played by actor Barry Sloane – who reappears to complicate her life. Fan favorite Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) won’t be left out of the mix as he will be getting a new love…and this time it’s a lady (but there are no details yet on who that lucky lady will be). And, much to the chagrin of many a fan, Daniel and Ashley (Ashley Madekwe) will be involved at the beginning of this new season. I’ll let all of you out there get your “ew’s” out of the way – okay, all together now – EEEWWWW!

Fans can also expect there to be a real baby from Fauxmanda – she wasn’t making the pregnancy up (sadly) – and the Grayson family will also be visited by Conrad’s son from his first marriage. Those two things won’t complicate matters at all on ‘Revenge’, right?

Needless to say, mark your calendars, folks, as the new season of ‘Revenge’ will premiere this coming Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c on ABC; and don’t forget to watch the recap special tonight at 10/9c.
