Breaking Bad “Fixer” Jonathan Banks to Guest on ‘Parks and Recreation’

Over the last month, we have reported on guest stars that will either be returning or showing up for the first time on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. Now comes the big news: Ben Wyatt’s (Adam Scott) dad will be played by none other than ‘Breaking Bad’ “fixer” Mike Ehrmentraut, er, I mean actor Jonathan Banks.

The news, which was first reported by HitFix, has it that Banks will most likely appear in the comedy’s sixth episode of the new fall season; but few other details are known about Ben’s as-yet unnamed dad. But Mike Schur, the co-creator of the series, shared with the folks at Hit Fix that, “We were working [on] the character description of Ben’s dad, and I said aloud, ‘He should act like Mike Ehrmentraut’. So somebody said, ‘Well, why can’t we just get Jonathan Banks?'” As readers can imagine, Schur and his team are big fans of the AMC drama as well as Banks.

Banks has a long resume of TV and films roles, dating back to the early 1970’s, but he is probably best known for his role in the 80’s classic series ‘Wiseguy’ as well as roles in the box office films ‘Airplane!’ and ‘Beverly Hills Cop’. Over the last decade he has appeared in guest roles in episodes of ‘Modern Family’, ‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘ER’, ‘Ringer’, ‘CSI: Miami’ ‘Dexter’ and ‘Lie to Me’ [among countless others].

‘Parks and Recreation’, which is now in its fifth season on NBC, will be back starting on September 20. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
