‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 2: “Magic is Coming to Storybrooke.” [Video]

Comic-Con 2012 Once Upon a time

It’s official: the curse has been broken. ABC has finally released a proper trailer for the new season of Once Upon A Time. Okay, so maybe we weren’t cursed, but the hiatus certainly feels like it has lasted for an eternity now, and the new footage is sweeter than any kiss from a handsome prince (unless his name is Charming, of course).

When we return to Storybrooke this fall, the characters will no longer be in the dark about their fairy tale pasts. Their impending identity crises are the least of their worries though. Mr. Gold has released magic in Storybrooke, creating a whole new set of problems for Emma and the rest of the town to contend with, not the least of which is a powered-up Regina. “Here she is,” she declares in the promo before going into full evil queen mode on a bunch of townspeople brave enough to darken her doorstep.

The trailer also reminds us that there are new villains and heroes on the way this season. We get another look at Captain Hook’s (Colin O’Donoghue)…well, hook, and glimpses of newcomers Mulan (Jaime Chung) and Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger).

The highlight is the apparent rise of Rumpelstiltskin. As Mr. Gold, Rumpelstiltskin has been busy playing both sides of the field in Storybrooke, but now that he has successfully brought magic back into the equation, might he be firmly on the side of evil again? His true love Belle hopes not. “Promise me you won’t give into your hate,” she says. I’m betting he’s going to have trouble keeping that promise. We see him holding the all-important knife from last season, as well as smashing something in his shop, indicating he’s either angry or planning something nefarious (most likely for Regina).

Other cool teases include a fiery showdown and a reunion between Snow and Grumpy. Watch the trailer below and then tune into ABC on Sep. 30 to catch the season two premiere.
