Final Episodes of Medical Drama ‘Saving Hope’ Won’t Air on NBC But Online Instead

Erica Durance, Michael Shanks, Daniel Gillies - Saving Hope

Things are not looking too good for the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope at least not where its airings in the United States are concerned. First the show was booted over to Saturday nights and then the final two episodes, which were to air on September 1 and 8, got moved to September 8 and 15. Now, those two episodes will not air on NBC – its home here in the U.S. – AT ALL.

Okay, I’m going to allow for all the fans to react…(covering my ears to ward off the screams of anger). Okay, ready for the rest of the news?

The new medical drama stars Erica Durance (of ‘Smallville’ fame), Michael Shanks (of ‘Stargate’ fame) and Daniel Gillies (best known for his work on ‘The Vampire Diaries) in what was to be a compelling series about what happens at Toronto’s Hope-Zion Hospital when its Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris (Shanks) ends up in a coma, leaving the hospital, of course, in chaos and his fiancee and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Durance), in a state of shock. Enter star surgeon Joel Goran (Gillies), a former flame of Alex’s who will compete for her heart and help her and the hospital through the trials ahead. Meanwhile, Charlie’s spirit is walking the halls of the hospital while his body lies in a coma.

The drama never really took off with viewers, languishing in the ratings, which is the reason behind the move to Saturday nights and, sadly, the reason for the final two episodes being pulled. It is being reported by TV Line, though, that once the episodes air in Canada on CTV, they should be available for online viewing at for the US viewers.

‘Saving Hope’ has been renewed for a second season in Canada, but there is no word on whether it will continue here in the States; but given the fact, these final two episodes are being pulled, I would hazard a guess that won’t be happening.
