The LA Complex “Stay” Review – Family Matters

The L.A. Complex Stay Season 2 Episode 8

Continuing where we left off last week on The LA Complex, Simon (Michael Levinson) is still missing and Beth (Dayle McLeod) is (rightfully so) freaking out. With no sign of her little brother and the impeding threat that Eddie (Ennis Esmer) will call the cops if he’s not found by the end of his shift, Beth goes into super sleuth mode and comes up with nothing.

Raquel (Jewel Staite) is having major guilty feelings over causing a kid to overdose on Celebrity Halfway House. In a completely unselfish, un-Raquel move, she threatens to leave the show if the producers won’t get Zach (guest star Rhys Ward) actual help. Considering she’d be under breach of contract and would still be sued by the production company for Catabear, I didn’t think she’d go through with her treats.

To get some new material for his stand up routine, Nick (Joe Dinicol) turns to the internet for inspiration. What he finds out are that people are insane. And really sex crazed. From the elderly woman seeking a bridge partner, to the guy that wants his (spotless) garage cleaned, Nick quickly discovers that all anyone wants from his is a roll in the hay.

I’m sad to say I do believe that this is the last time we will see Krista Allen on The LA Complex as Jennifer ended her contract with Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore) tonight. Jennifer and Eric (Alan Van Sprang) are back together which means there isn’t room for Connor in the their happy home any longer. In an extremely awkward break up, which sounded much more like parents explaining a divorce to their child, Jennifer and Eric send off Connor with: “Just because you’re not living with us, doesn’t mean we don’t love you!”

And so is the theme of The LA Complex. Family. Simon finds his way home and he and Connor (who has moved back into the Luxe) have a bonding experience where Connor makes the kid see that his sister was just attempting to protect him by lying about their dad. Abby actually manages to go on a date and not sleep with the guy, and Raquel comes stumbling back to find her old friends having a pizza party by the pool.

My favorite bits:

  • Ricky: “You’ve got two faces! and i don’t like either face!”
  • Raquel: “Cori’s up on the roof… again.”
  • Jennifer and Eric breaking up with Connor. The entire scene was incredibly awkward, but hysterical.
  • It really did feel like on big dysfunctional family at the end, especially when the identity of the mystery blond was revealed. What did you think of “Stay” LA Complex fans? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
