DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk Promises “High-Flying” Dragon Fun

Some familiar dragons (and dragon trainers) will be invading Cartoon Network this fall. DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk, a new animated series inspired by the 2010 blockbuster How To Train Your Dragon, will focus on the ongoing adventures of Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and his faithful dragon Toothless, as they continue their training on the Viking island of Berk.

Hiccup isn’t the only one with a dragon anymore. All of the kids, including returning favorites Astrid (America Ferrera), Fishlegs (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Tuffnut (T. J. Miller), have dragons of their own now. Much of the action will focus on them bonding with their new companions as they learn what powers their dragons possess. When the characters aren’t busy getting to know their dragons, they’ll be exploring and expanding their world as they discover new species and battle villains.

In addition to the returning cast members, the series will introduce new characters voiced by the likes of Stephen Root (Mildew), Tim Conway (Mulch) and Mark Hamill (Alvin the Treacherous).

Below you can watch a clip from the upcoming season that features Hiccup and Astrid in a bit of a cliffhanger situation, and check out two photos of the characters with their dragons.

DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk debuts Sept. 4 at 7:30 p. m. (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network.
