‘Doctor Who’ Christmas 2012 Episode to Feature Big U.K. Stars

'Doctor Who' Christmas 2012

The longest-running TV show (ever!) – Doctor Who – will begin shooting its Christmas episode this week and among its guest stars will be actor, author and director Richard E. Grant and actor Tom Ward.

No details have been leaked as of yet as to the characters both actors will be playing, but fans can rest assured that the Christmas episode will be fantastical in nature filled with multi-layered characters and plot points. The holiday episode will be written by the show’s executive producer Steven Moffat and directed by Saul Metzstein.

Among Grant’s credits are the box office films ‘Dracula’, ‘The Age of Innocence’, ‘The Portrait of a Lady’, ‘Gosford Park’, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’, ‘Penelope’ and ‘The Iron Lady’. On joining the show, Grant shared that “I played Doctor Who in the digital animated “Scream Of The Shalka” and I’m honored to be in the Christmas special.”

Ward, on the other hand, is one of the leads on the long-running British crime thriller ‘Silent Witness’ as well as the TV mini-series ‘Anna Karenina’ and the TV movie ‘The Lost World’.

The Christmas special will also be the first time the Doctor’s new companion, to be played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, will be featured.

‘Doctor Who’ is expected to arrive on the UK channel BBC One soon with the Christmas Special and eight new episodes next year. Details on when the new episodes as well as the Christmas special will air here in the U.S. have not been announced, but will hopefully closely coincide.
