American Idol’s Paul McDonald Coming To ‘Parenthood’

‘American Idol’ alumni Paul McDonald, who fans remember made it all the way to the eighth place in the tenth season of the Fox singing series, will be appearing in a recurring role in NBC’s family drama Parenthood according to reports coming out of TV Line.

The Grand Magnolias member will appear in the series as a musician and love interest of the show’s series regular Amber (played by Mae Whitman). His character will take up space in Crosby and Adam’s recording studio to work on his music at The Luncheonette.

This marks McDonald’s first big foray into acting. He is married to Twilight’s Nikki Reed who is best known for her role as Rosalie in the successful franchise. Since appearing on ‘American Idol’, Paul has shown up on the talk show ‘Live! With Kelly!’ to discuss his music career, ‘Rachel Ray’, and the long running ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’.

‘Parenthood’ is scheduled to kick off their fourth season this fall, September 11th, on NBC. Tell us what you think fans, are you ready to see your favorite family drama welcome McDonald into the fold? Will the Idol star perform during his short arc? Leave us your comments below.
