Yet another telling of the classic novel The Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas will be making its way to the small screen. This version will be co-produced by BBC One and BBC America and written by Adrian Hodges, the man behind the box office film ‘My Week with Marilyn’ and the TV shows ‘Survivors’ and ‘Primeval’.

‘The Musketeers’ will be a fresh and contemporary take on the beloved story and characters, telling the story of a band of brothers, highly trained soldiers who are assigned to protect King and country. As everyone knows, they are men who are courageous, impulsive and ready to fight any battle if the cause is just. The series will be set in the 17th century – just like in the novel – and will feature a fresh story each week.

Perry Simon, General Manager at BBC America shared that, “the series bristles with vivid escapism and heroic action adventure and is set to thrill audiences with cracking stories of the week. It is a perfect series for our Dramaville slot which has established itself as a showcase for outstanding and award-winning British drama.”

The plan is for the show to debut in 2014 and have a 10-episode run with Jessica Pope (‘The Good Cop’, ‘State Within’ and ‘Silent Witness’) as executive producer.
