Actor Laurence Fishburne Returning to Primetime on ‘Hannibal’

He took over the mantle of leader on CSI from 2008 to 2011 and now actor Laurence Fishburne will be coming back to the small screen this time on the much-anticipated new NBC drama Hannibal.

The series, which is based on the legendary fictional character Hannibal Lechter from the Thomas Harris novels, will focus on FBI agent Will Graham (British actor Hugh Dancy), who is introduced to a psychiatrist – Dr. Hannibal Lechter (Mads Mikkelsen) – “with a rather dark secret, who helps Graham solve crimes”. Fishburne will play FBI Behavioral Sciences Unit leader Jack Crawford.

‘Hannibal’ will be executive produced and written by Bryan Fuller, the creator of TV shows such as ‘Dead Like Me’, ‘Wonderfalls’ and ‘Pushing Daisies’ and writer for TV shows like ‘Heroes’ and ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’.

Fishburne, of course, is best known for his film roles in ‘The Matrix’ franchise, but he has also appeared in the films ‘Mystic River’, ‘Assault on Precinct 13’, ‘Mission Impossible III’ and ‘Othello’ [among others].

‘Hannibal’ has received a 13-episode for its debut season, which is expected to air mid-season on NBC. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
