Covert Affairs “The Last Thing You Should Do” Review – Trouble, Trouble Everywhere

Covert Affairs "The Last Thing You Should Do" Season 3 Episode 3

In this episode of Covert Affairs, called “The Last Thing You Should Do,” I changed my feelings about a couple of characters.

Now don’t you Auggie fans worry, I definitely haven’t changed my mind about him. He’s still as awesome and wonderful as always and I don’t see my feelings for him shifting, like, ever. No my feelings are about two of the ladies on the show (and no, neither of them are Annie).

Auggie and Parker, along with a couple of friends from the Peace Corps, are out enjoying a beautiful vacation when two very important things happen. Auggie proposes and they all get kidnapped. After that Auggie gets to be the hero I was hoping he would be; not letting his sightlessness hinder him but instead doing all that he could to keep his friends, and his fiancé, alive. Trouble is, all that heroicness isn’t going unnoticed and soon Auggie has to admit to Parker who he really is.

I know I’m probably being too hard on her, but I can’t help but feel annoyed that Parker’s first reaction was anger. I know, I know, I should be thinking of what any woman would do in her shoes but I’d like to think that I’d be happy that my fiancé had the training to keep us alive and understand that there were reasons he couldn’t tell me.

But now, because of her (understandable I’m sure) reactions, I now have a problem with Parker, where I had no problem with her before. Maybe this was the writes’ intent because now I’m kinda hoping he dumps her and goes to Annie – something I wrote about in an article, but wasn’t even sure I wanted.

The second lady I have changed my mind about, thanks to this episode, is Lena. When she first came on the scene, I thought they were simply getting rid of Joan and Lena was her replacement. But now that I see that Joan isn’t going anywhere (at least not yet), I’m intrigued..and also distrustful of Lena.

So now I’m less trustful of two of the women in Auggie and Annie’s lives. Something tells me this is going to be one interesting season of Covert Affairs.

My favorite bits..

Poor Annie. I hate it when people interrupt me when I’m in a bubble bath.

First we get shirtless Neal in White Collar and now some shirtless Auggie? Best. Night. Ever.

Auggie’s proposal. So beyond sweet.

“He’s going to be just like his father.”
“Blind?” – Oh Auggie. That made me sad.

Auggie immediately going on alert when he found out Wade had put out a distress call.

Auggie knowing about the boat before anyone else did.

Auggie trying to surreptitiously slip the ring off of Parker’s finger.

Annie putting things together so fast and figuring out that Auggie had been kidnapped.

Gotta love how everyone feels the need to wave their hands in front of the blind guy’s face.

The kidnapper figuring out that Auggie was ex-Special Forces. Oh dear.

Lena, Annie and Joan realizing that Auggie’s “price” had just gone up.

*Gasp!* Did he just say what I THOUGHT he just said??? Holy cow! I sort of can’t believe that Auggie just confessed that he was CIA.

No way. Is she really going to dump Auggie? I get that she’s shocked but Parker just lost some major points with me.

The POV shot we got from one of the rifles. Nice.

Annie breaking up the cat fight to remind everyone that Auggie was the priority right then, not settling old arguments.

“Why are they moving us?”
“It means we need to escape.” – Uh oh.

Both Lena and Joan agreeing that Annie knew Auggie better than anyone and going with her suggestion to send in the team.

Annie walking into Auggie’s old office. Aw.

Annie’s relief when she heard Auggie’s voice on the phone.

“We can do this.” – Ahh! Not sure my heart can take this. *closes eyes*

Literally cheering out loud when Wade made that jump.

Nearly passing out with relief (along with Annie) when Auggie (oh, and Parker too) made the jump.

“I’ve told you my only secret, I promise.” – Huh. Why do I feel like him saying that means that that’s not his only secret?
