My New Addiction: Disney’s Phineas and Ferb… And They’re Doing a Marvel Episode!

Phineas and Ferb

So I have a new TV addiction (surprise!), it’s Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb. Yes, it could be described as a kids’ show, but it’s so much more than that. Phineas and Ferb follows the adventure of Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, as they come up with the most incredible ideas to pass the time during their 104-days of summer vacation. The series is so much fun to watch, these two always come up with the coolest stuff. I wish I had them as friends when I was growing up… scratch that I wish I had them as friends.

But their crazy inventions are only part of it, they also have a sister, Candace who has made it her life’s work to tell on them to her mom and dad, but is never able to quite show them what they have been up to. She’s my favorite character of the show.

And finally, there is Phineas and Ferb’s pet, Perry the platypus, who is has a secret life as Agent P battling the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz to save the world from his latest evil invention.

(Warning: As a side effect of watching a few episodes, you might find yourself singing the “Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc.” jingle.)

And that’s the awesomeness that is Phineas and Ferb.

So how did I find this gem of a show you ask? Well, when I was at Comic-Con last week working in my hotel, I left the TV on Disney Channel (what?! they have really entertaining and relaxing shows) and one of the shows that aired at some point was none other than Phineas and Ferb. I had seen photos of the show before and always found the kids really cute, but I had never actually watched it. Well, it only took one episode and I was hooked. I guess sometimes it’s nice not to have a DVR, you end up discovering things.

And so now I’m catching up on all the seasons thanks to Netflix Watch Instantly.

But that’s not all, while I am sad I didn’t get to cover the show at Comic-Con or attend the panel, they did make a really cool announcement: Phineas and Ferb will team up with some of Marvel’s iconic super heroes, that would be Spider-Man and The Avengers (Iron Man, Thor and Hulk) in Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel. How awesome is that?!

The epic television event will premiere in summer 2013 on Disney Channel and will mark the first crossover animated television special for Marvel and Disney properties.

“Phineas and Ferb” creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh are working closely with Marvel’s creative team in order to design Marvel’s Super Heroes and Super Villains including Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and M.O.D.O.K. to fit the Danville world of the series.

In “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel,” Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk enter Danville after Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s latest “inator” scheme accidentally removes their powers and immobilizes them. Now it’s up to Phineas and Ferb to team up with the Marvel Super Heroes to help them regain their powers and defeat Marvel Super Villains – Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and M.O.D.O.K. – who are working together with Dr. Doofenshmirtz to use his power-draining technology to create mayhem.

You can watch a preview of the episode in the video below.

And so I encourage you to give Phineas and Ferb a try and if you have kids, even better! The series airs on Fridays at 7:30pm on Disney Channel.

Oh and here are a few photos from Comic-Con, turns out Damon Lindelof is a fan too!
