Necessary Roughness “What’s Eating You?” Review

I am so glad that Necessary Roughness has finally addressed what has been one of my biggest problems with the show since the beginning. In “What’s Eating You?,” Dani finally told another therapist (although she should have told her bratty, ungrateful kids) how unfair it is that their father cheated on her and is blowing through their college funds, yet somehow gets to be their favorite parent. I have never understood that, but it was nice to see Dani acknowledge it.

Dani’s patient this week was a member of the Hawks who couldn’t seem to lose weight. As it turned out, he was eating in his sleep because of his stress over supporting a group of freeloading family/friends. At least she was able to figure that out and earn her keep on the team.

Speaking of the team, the newbies started to get hazed, but no one got it more than Razor who stood up for himself against TK. After male strippers, bedazzled helmets, stolen cars and missing playbooks, Nico finally stepped in and put an end to the budding rivalry by kidnapping them and tying them to a goal post. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

And on the subject of friends, Dani’s BFF, Jeanette, from the beginning of the first season returned from South America for no other reason that I can see other than to give commentary on Dani’s relationship with Matt and to reveal that she’s pregnant. After both he and Dani agreed not to rush into living together, Matt decided to propose. Um…okay. This will end well.

I like Matt, but he’s setting himself up for a big disappointment here. Usually after a woman balks at the idea of living together, it’s not the best time to ask for her hand in marriage. Also, it feels like he keeps hanging on, hoping that Dani will change her mind about the baby thing, and I just don’t think she will. He’s a good guy, but they’re at very different points in their life and while that makes for a hot affair, it doesn’t do so well in the long-term.
