The creator of ‘Spartacus’, Steven S. DeKnight, has been tapped to develop a new series for Starz. The show will be aptly titled Incursion. It is being described as an “epic science fiction action-thriller that follows a squad of soldiers caught in a war against a hostile alien race.” The unique drama will also feature a new battle to be fought each season on different planets.

‘Incursion’ also promises to bring “grittily realistic combat, darkly complex characters and intrigue on a cosmic scale” in a war story that you have never seen created like this before. Over the years DeKnight has worked behind the scenes of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’, ‘Angel’, ‘Smallville’, and more recently the short-lived series ‘Dollhouse’.

Meanwhile, Starz has also given the green light to both J. Michael Straczynski (Underworld: Awakening) and Roy Lee (The Woman in Black) to bring the new TV series, Vlad Dracula, to the network’s line-up.

The project will feature snippets of the 15th century Prince of Wallachia meshed together with the fictional Dracula storyline. The plot will trace Vlad Dracula’s “evolution from a revered ruler to the world’s most feared vampire, and his slow downfall as he struggles desperately to hang on to his humanity, his wife and his kingdom.” The series will be produced by Rob Tapert.

Both shows are slated for a fall debut. Tell us what you think. Are you ready to see Starz bring the duo to their line-up?
