Jennifer Lopez Leaving ‘American Idol’

After the surprising news of Steven Tyler’s departure from Fox’s American Idol, The Hollywood Reporter has now dropped the disappointing news that many saw coming, the exit of judge Jennifer Lopez. The news was confirmed this past Friday when Lopez told Idol host Ryan Seacrest that she would not be returning for a third season of the singing competition.

“I honestly feel like the time has come for me to be doing the other things I do that I’ve kind of put on hold because I love Idol so much,” Lopez cited for her decision to end her two year run on the show. The singer will instead spend her time on tour with Enrique Iglesias. She also noted how difficult a decision it was for her to step down as a judge. “It’s one of those special things in your life that you don’t want to walk away from.”

Money was also said to have played a huge part in Jennifer Lopez’s exit from the show. So far news on whether or not Idol judge Randy Jackson will return has yet to be confirmed. At this point ‘American Idol’ has taken a huge hit in this last week with many wondering what will become of the Fox series. Who would you like to see replace Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler?
