The Closer Final Episodes: A Teary Goodbye

The Closer Hostile Witness Season 7 Episode 16

The final episodes of The Closer are upon us and will begin with tonight’s first episode “Hostile Witness” guest starring Billy Burke who is reprising the role of Philip Stroh, Brenda’s longtime nemesis in the middle of another murder case.

Yours truly was fortunate enough to watch four episodes out of the final episodes so I wanted to give you a flavor of what you can expect in this send-off.

More Compelling Cases

The Closer has a stellar reputation of making even the most ordinary cases into some extremely compelling storytelling. These final episodes are no different in that respect. As usual, things are not always what they appear to be. Keep a special look out for the case in the episode “Armed Response” airing August 6th 2012. Classic episode with an unexpected twist.

Character Development

Seven seasons and I am still blown away at how much character development is still going on. Expect to find out more about your favorite characters, including their personal lives. We even get to find out more about Captain Raydor (Mary McDonnell) which gives us some insight into why she is who she is. My favorite character development moment comes from one of the members of the squad in one of the most gut-wrenching scenes in the series. Speaking of Gut-wrenching…

Tears Galore

I suggest you keep a box of tissues nearby before you watch some of the episodes. I never cry when I watch a series but even I had to pause some of the episodes because I needed to compose myself. I can’t even tell you which episodes are going to bring up the tears as I don’t want to spoil it for you but I will give you the following hint: Two of those scenes start with a door opening…I have said too much already.

An Uncertain Ending

Aside from what is in the synopsis, I have no idea how the series is going to end. If these four episodes are any indication, it will likely be a very emotional and cathartic finale that will tie up a few loose ends. That is just me guessing though. At the end of the day, we know some of the characters of the series will continue on in the spin-off series, Major Case so it’s hard to speculate what sort of ending we are looking at.

All and all, these final episodes definitely qualify as “Can’t Miss TV” so I invite you to take on this final journey together to say goodbye to one of the best shows on TV …EVER.
