B.J. Novak To Step Down On ‘The Office’

Actor B.J. Novak has decided to step down as a regular on the NBC series The Office, TV Guide has revealed. It is unclear why the actor plans to step down from his full time gig on the series but many are guessing that it has something to do with his work as an executive producer of the upcoming Mindy Kaling series on Fox entitled ‘The Mindy Project’. Kaling is well known as Novak’s love interest on the NBC show. The actor will however make periodic guest appearances on ‘The Office’ as well as possibly direct some episodes of the series and maintain his position as a writer.

Novak’s step down comes as a blow since actor James Spader is also exiting his post as Robert California after appearing for just one season. Catherine Tate however is now back as a series regular. The Office’s Ed Helms and John Krasinski will also be returning for a few episodes here and there. The show appears to be hitting a rough patch when it comes to the cast and the exit of show runner Paul Lieberstein who is leaving to work on the Rainn Wilson spin-off. Will Dunder- Mifflin be able to entertain their loyal fans for one more year?
