Henry Ian Cusick Departs ‘Scandal’ While Joshua Malina Gets Promoted June 10, 2012 News, Scandal It would seem that there is still more casting surprises in store for TV viewers. This time the casting changes affect the new D.C. based political fixer drama Scandal that was renewed last month for a 2nd season by ABC. Actor Henry Ian Cusick, formerly of ‘Lost’ fame, will not be returning to the series this fall while actor Joshua Malina, best known for his work on ‘The West Wing’, has been promoted to series regular status. According to a report at The Hollywood Reporter, Cusick and showrunner Shonda Rhimes came to a mutual decision for him not to return this fall, claiming it was an amicable split. Meanwhile, TV Guide made the same day announcement that Joshua Malina would be promoted to full-time status in his role of U.S. Attorney David Rosen, which despite being in all seven episodes of the first season, he was only considered recurring. The departure of Cusick comes a short time after the announcement that Tim Daly would not be returning to ‘Private Practice’ and three regular cast members of ‘Body of Proof’ (both ABC shows) would not be back either. ‘Scandal’ will be back for its second season this fall on Thursday nights on ABC at 10/9c.
