Kate Walsh Leaving ‘Private Practice’

Earlier this week it was announced that Private Practice star Tim Daly would not be returning for the show’s sixth season.

Now even bigger news has hit the fan that lead actress Kate Walsh will reportedly leave the AMC medical series after the first 13 episodes have aired this fall.

Walsh only signed on for 13 episodes after her deal expired at the end of season five; and there was even speculation that this fall’s sixth season would be the show’s last. At this time, the only reason given for Walsh’s departure is that she is ready to move on.

The season finale found Addison being proposed to by Sam (Tage Diggs), but it is unclear how she responded so the upcoming 13 episodes could prove to be interesting how they turn out. Additionally, it is unclear whether the show would continue without Walsh. The show has continued after the departure of cast members Audra McDonald and Chris Lowell; but Walsh’s departure is much bigger to the show.

‘Private Practice’ will return to its Tuesday timeslot this fall, but ABC has declined to comment on how many episodes there will actually be. [Source: TV Guide]
