Andie MacDowell To Star In Hallmark Original Series ‘Cedar Cove’

The Hallmark Channel has announced their plans to bring the original series Cedar Cove, starring Andie MacDowell (Sex, Lies & Videotapes), to the network’s line-up. The show is an adaption of the best selling book series of the same name from writer Debbie Macomber.

The plot centers on MacDowell as the lead character, Judge Olivia Lockhart, whose “Cedar Cove Municipal Court is the professional milieu and social microcosm of issues the judge will face in her own day-to-day life with family and friends.”

Executive Vice President of Programming, Michelle Vicary, made the exciting announcement. “We are beyond thrilled to have a star of the magnitude of Andie MacDowell to star in ‘Cedar Cove,’ the movie that is the basis for Hallmark Channel’s first-ever primetime series. Andie is widely recognized around the world as a gifted actor and a top box-office draw and there is genuine, mutual excitement today between the network and our star about the future of the new series.”

Aside from the ‘Cedar Cove’ TV series that will debut in 2013, The Hallmark Channel is also working on a new movie for the series that will debut late this year. MacDowell, who currently stars in the ABC Family series ‘Jane by Design’, is well known for her work in ‘Riding the Bus With My Sister’, ‘Dinner with Friends’, and the movie ‘Groundhog Day’.

‘Cedar Cove’ will be produced by Debbie Macomber, Dan Wigutow, Caroline Moore, Harvey Kahn, Michael Scott and Allen Lewis.
