‘Sanctuary’ Cancelled by Syfy

Sanctuary Season 2

The sad news came down from Syfy yesterday that the fan favorite series Sanctuary will not be back for a fifth season.

It seems that this reveal was not the best kept secret within the industry because it seems the producer released the show’s studio space in Vancouver because of a delay by the network in ordering a new season. That fact alone would have made it very difficult for the show to be ready to film episodes if it had been renewed.

Mark Stern, President of Original Content at Syfy stated, “We’re honored to have been part of this incredible series. In addition to garnering unmatched devotion by fans worldwide, ‘Sanctuary’ was a bona fide trailblazer, setting new standards with its highly innovative production techniques — including pioneering green screen and RED camera technology — and Emmy-nominated visual effects. It’s been an amazing ride and we look forward to our next project with Amanda Tapping (the star of ‘Sanctuary’), Martin Wood and Damian Kindler (Executive Producers of ‘Sanctuary’)”.

‘Sanctuary’ ran for four seasons on Syfy, airing its last episode on December 30 of last year. The series starred Amanda Tapping (of Stargate: SG-1 fame), Robin Dunne, Christopher Heyerdahl, Ryan Robbins and Agam Darshi. [Source: SciFiPulse]
