Well-Known Actor James Cromwell to Join Season 2 Cast of ‘American Horror Story’

It was confirmed yesterday by the folks over at the TV Guide that well-known TV and film actor James Cromwell is joining the cast of the much-buzzed about FX horror-drama American Horror Story.

Details on the second season of the Ryan Murphy-created series are being kept tightly under wraps, but thus far viewers have been told that the series will take place on the East Coast, in years past, at a mental institution with Jessica Lange returning, but playing a completely different character than the one she played in the debut season.

Cromwell will play Dr. Arden, a foil to Lange’s new character, who will be Arden’s boss at the mental institution.

Best known for his roles in films like ‘The Artist’, ‘Secretariat’, ‘L.A. Confidential’, ‘The Green Mile’ and ‘Babe’ (among many others), he has also appeared in TV shows such as ’24’, ‘ER’, ‘Six Feet Under’ and the short-lived ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ and ‘Citizen Baine’.

‘American Horror Story’ does not have an official airdate set just yet, but viewers can expect the second season to return to FX sometime this October.
