TV Beauty Teri Hatcher to Make Directorial Debut on ‘Jane By Design’

Actress Teri Hatcher, best known for her roles on ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’, will make her directorial debut on the new ABC Family series Jane By Design this summer.

Not only that, but she will appear in a four-episode arc on the series that follows Jane Quimby (newcomer Erica Dasher), a quirky teen with an eclectic chic fashion sense, who lands a job at a hip fashion house when they mistake her for an adult. Torn between her love of fashion and the need to finish high school, Jane conceals her true age to assist the demanding, but talented creative director Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell). The series also stars David Rogers, Nicholas Roux, Rowly Dennis, India De Beaufort and Matthew Atkinson.

Hatcher will appear as Jane’s long-lost mother in four episodes that will be filmed between mid-May and mid-June and she will make her appearance starting with the June 19 episode. A scheduled date has yet to be made for her directing debut, though.

Hatcher shared, “I (am) thrilled for the opportunity to direct. So many of the crew and cast of ‘Desperate Housewives’ have been encouraging me to do this for a long time…now that I have time, I’m excited to whole heartedly conquer new ventures. ‘Jane By Design’ is charming, with very funny performances. I look forward to working with new and old friends over there and helping them tell stories both in front and behind the camera.”

‘Jane By Design’ will return with a new season on ABC Family on Monday, June 5 at 9/8c.
