Nick Weidenfeld, Head of Animation Domination HD at Fox, has announced the network’s plans to bring the cult sensation Axe Cop to the small screen. “Axe Cop is one of the most creative, hilarious and naturally viral comic properties to emerge in the last decade,” Weidenfeld noted. “I’ve hoped someone would adapt ‘Axe Cop’ for television for years and couldn’t be happier that we get to be that someone. ‘Axe Cop’ has all the makings of an iconic animated series and it will help set the tone for FOX’s new late-prime Saturday animation lineup.”

The series first made it’s debut on the web, created by Malachai Nicolle, who was just five years old at the time he wrote the story, along with his then twenty-nine year old brother, Ethan, who created the illustrations. Together they released the animated storyline that centers on the “adventures of an axe-wielding police officer and his loyal team of allies as they fight bad guys.” The first five installments of ‘Axe Cop’ first debuted back on January 25th 2010 and was an immediate success.

Fox now plans to release the show next year as part of their Animation Domination HD block that airs at 11:00-12:30 PM ET/PT. ‘Axe Cop’ will also make its debut across several digital platforms.
